WHERE IT STARTED
Opening in 1989, Sunrooms quickly became Southend’s alternative beating heart, securing a 3am licence and welcoming crowds of up to 400 through its doors.
Built from scratch with handcrafted details, art from friends and a wildly imaginative design, Sunrooms earned legendary status over its 24-year run.
A SOUTHEND INSTITUTION
Sunrooms hosted iconic acts including The Orb and Green Day to Alison Moyet, Vince Clark, The Blow Monkeys’ Dr Bob Jones, Gary Dennis and Toyah Wilcox, alongside countless world-class DJs and artists.
In 2013, after more than two decades of unforgettable nights, Sunrooms closed its doors.
THE RETURN
In May 2024, that spirit returned as Sunrooms2, reviving the legacy of this beautifully renovated 18th-century Market Place building at the heart of Alexandra Street.
With an Aztec-inspired cave bar, industrial loft club space, vibrant outdoor garden and an amazing sound system throughout the venue, Sunrooms2 carries forward the same inclusive, eclectic energy for a new generation.

The gateway to the venue. Designed with carved stone pillars, warm ambient glow, and tropical greenery, the main bar sets the tone the second you step inside. Built around a high clarity JBL sound system delivering unrivalled warmth, this purpose built space balances an immersive dancefloor setup with a fully stocked bar, making it the ultimate spot for early evening drinks or a late night dance.

Loft
Low ceilings, exposed metalwork, and intense industry standard lighting give the loft a distinct warehouse feel. Designed as a fully self sufficient space for up to 170 people, it comes tuned with a punchy JBL sound rig, a full private bar, and independent toilet facilities. This is the space to keep the crowd locked in all night long.

Garden
Built for day through to night sessions in any season, a purpose built paradise with stone sculptures and dim lighting, our outdoor terrace offers a sanctuary vibe found nowhere else and backed by serious tech. Covered all year round and equipped with overhead winter heating, the 100 capacity Garden delivers an immersive outdoor experience powered by a dedicated sound system perfect for those summer nights.
